“Oldsmobile”
Was created for the old peoples home St Jacob in Basel, Switzerland in 1998.
5/2 meter mural sculpture, coin activated with lights and sounds.
When a donation coin is inserted it will start up the mecanisme. A white ball is raised to the top where gravity starts to pull the ball down through the show.
Kids love to press the boutons which activate all sorts of funny sounds.
The ball stops at 6 different places showing things like food, telephoning, resting, medication, hearing aids, pillow fights etc. All related old age stuff is on show there.
The complete run is around 2 minutes long.
Money so collected goes towards maintaing the excursion bus.
This is the first sculpture which could be called up. People could chat to the spectators, who were most startled by your voice coming out loud !
After 20 years I had to service and clean it. 8 hours work I slept there….
